Another stab at using a football ground as a venue for a hard rock festival , Metal was all the rage in the early 80s , but not every promoter got it right, in this case the crowd was estimated at 20- 25,000, as another event wasn’t held its fair to guess that this event may have lost money. The PA was supposed to have reached new heights in amplification – rated at over 100,000 watts.

Originally Black Sabbath were supposed to co-headline with Motorhead, but pulled out in early July due to ‘ recording commitments ” to be replaced by the Ozzy Osbourne Band.

Me and a mate went to this gig. It was famously loud – mate got a migraine and threw up it was so bleedin noisy in there. When Lemmy half way though the set did his “do you want it louder” bit most of the crowd kinda went ‘not really’?!
Mrs gave my stack of 80s/90s gig t-shirts to the school jumble. Doh. This at least would keep me calm, nice one!

Was at the port vale gig with two mates,we traveled up from Suffolk on our bikes.Me on my Suzuki X7 with a mate on the back and my mates brother on his CB250T.
Still have my original shirt from the gig but it’s very threadbare now!
When I found this site and found I could get a copy of the tee shirt,I ordered one straight away.
The shirt turned up yesterday and it’s top quality, brings back lots of good memories from that gig.
If you were at that gig and are thinking of getting a shirt,GET ONE NOW!
    Great website Peter.
